On 27 October 2025, the
“Proximity Tourism and Deseasonalisation Conference” was held in the town of Salou. The event took place under the slogan
“Discovering our autumn”, with the aim of reflecting on and proposing strategies to strengthen a
sustainable and attractive tourism model for the Costa Dorada beyond the high season (July and August).
The conference was organised by Diari de Tarragona and the Salou Tourism Board and successfully brought together public administrations, companies and experts from across the territory: professionals with in-depth knowledge of the Costa Dorada who highlighted the opportunities and strengths of the area. True experts on the Costa Dorada and tourism — what more could you ask for!
Following the event, one thing became very clear:
the Costa Dorada is no longer seen solely as a summer destination, but as an ideal place to enjoy all year round. Summer, winter, spring or autumn… there are no limits when it comes to
enjoying the Costa Dorada and the Mediterranean spirit.
INFINITUM’s commitment to tourism deseasonalisation
During the conference, our Deputy General Manager, Joaquín Mora Bertran, took part in a round table alongside representatives from the sector, analysing opportunities to consolidate a tourism model that generates value on a continuous basis and promotes enriching experiences throughout the year.
With data on the table and strategic proposals, a model was defended that has been promoted by INFINITUM for some time now. A
type of tourism that goes beyond the traditional sun-and-beach concept and invites visitors to discover the wide cultural and sporting offer of the Costa Dorada.
For some time, INFINITUM has been
designing accommodation and golf packages and short breaks throughout the year, while also promoting complementary experiences such as Modernist routes in Reus, wine routes, itineraries through Roman Tarragona, as well as
other cultural, wellness and gastronomic proposals.
Costa Dorada: towards higher year-round occupancy
But what exactly does tourism deseasonalisation mean on the Costa Dorada? Quite simply, it refers to the
ability to attract visitors throughout the year. The aim is to balance tourism activity in spring, autumn and winter, promoting more sustainable tourism and avoiding saturation during the high season.
According to the latest data presented by the
Federació Empresarial d’Hostaleria i Turisme de Tarragona (FEHT), 2025 has been the most deseasonalised year in the tourism history of the region. These figures, also presented at INFINITUM, reflect overall growth in overnight stays and an increasingly balanced distribution of tourism activity throughout the year.
The most relevant data confirm that deseasonalisation is no longer just a goal for the Costa Dorada, but a well-established and steadily growing reality. Between January and November, 21.7 million overnight stays were recorded, representing an increase of 2.9% compared to 2024. Of this total, the Costa Dorada accounted for more than 20.2 million overnight stays, with
growth of 3.1% compared to the previous year. A closer look at the figures
highlights particularly strong increases during the low season, with growth of 12% between January and May and approximately 10% between September and December, compared to 2019.
Proximity tourism represents a major opportunity, without overlooking visitors from other parts of the world. This model encourages local and nearby tourists to discover the natural, cultural and gastronomic wealth of the area,
fostering authentic and sustainable experiences. From historical and Modernist routes in cities such as Reus and Tarragona, to sports, gastronomic and wellness getaways, proximity tourism allows the Costa Dorada to be enjoyed beyond the summer months, promoting a more balanced distribution of tourism activity and strengthening the local economy.
INFINITUM, much more than sun and beach
As stated by our Deputy General Manager, Joaquín Mora Bertran, during the
“Proximity Tourism and Deseasonalisation Conference” in Salou, INFINITUM is firmly committed to
promoting sustainable and diversified tourism, capable of attracting visitors all year round. Tourism deseasonalisation in Spain represents a great opportunity to showcase the natural beauty of the area, as well as its cultural and gastronomic richness on the Costa Dorada.
For this reason, INFINITUM offers a variety of tourism initiatives designed to connect with the
destination and its 100% Mediterranean lifestyle. INFINITUM offers a thousand reasons to
visit and enjoy the Costa Dorada 365 days a year. In any season and with any excuse, there are always reasons to discover what it has to offer.
